Maureen Denise McCormick was born on August 5 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and sole daughter of Richard and Irene McCormick. She was raised by her mother, who was an housewife, and her father who taught. Her older brothers are: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick was a gifted artist and singer from a young age. Her passion was to put on shows with puppets for the neighbors. At the age 6, McCormick won at the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called McCormick to inquire whether the actress was interested in a career in show business. McCormick was offered her first major role when she got a part in the commercial for television that was broadcast in 1964 of Mattels newest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. In the following year she was a guest on the company's Chatty Cathy Doll and was immediately chosen to play her role in the La Jolla Playhouse play Wind ItUp and ItBreaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children who auditioned for the role of the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom featured Florence Henderson and Robert Reed newlyweds, who shared the same family as a blended one. The show ran for five years. In her memoir Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice published in 2008 McCormick revealed that during the shows fifth season she was close to losing her virginity to her screen brother and co-star Barry Williams. He was just 19. She was 16. This would have occurred, she says. But, the time for our marriage was not the right one.
